Mediation For The Nation 2.0 DLSA Udhampur intensifies awareness activities UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 07: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Udhampur has initiated a publicity drive to spread awareness about the nationwide initiative “Mediation For The Nation 2.0” pursuant to the directions from the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority. The campaign undertaken under the Chairmanship of Kalpana Revo, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairperson DLSA Udhampur) and supervision of Secretary, DLSA Sumati Sharma, to sensitize the public, particularly litigants, to the benefits and advantages of mediation as an effective Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism. In this regard, DLSA Udhampur organized a series of campaigns and programs to promote Mediation 2.0. Posters were put up at prominent locations, including DC Office, District Court Complex, prominent chowks and in other parts of the Township, as well as Tehsils Ramnagar, Majalta and Chenani. The PLVs engaged with the public, explaining mediation benefits and processes. An awareness camp was held by Panel Lawyers of Tehsil Legal Services Committee Chenani, focusing on free legal aid services and Mediation 2.0. Campaigns were conducted at Slathia Chowk, Dhar Road and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, Gole Market, highlighting mediation’s role in peaceful dispute resolution, reducing litigation and promoting social harmony. Additionally, a legal awareness programme was conducted by TLSC Majalta, focusing on Mediation 2.0 and social welfare schemes, empowering students with knowledge on dispute resolution and entitlements. These initiatives aimed to educate the community about resolving disputes amicably through Mediation 2.0.

GDC Udhampur enters strategic partnership with JKEDI to strengthen entrepreneurial and start-up ecosystem UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 07: Government Degree College Udhampur has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute- the District start-up cell, marking a significant step towards fostering entrepreneurship, innovation and skill-based learning among students. The MoU was formally signed by District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Udhampur Yash Paul and President, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Prof. Rakesh Singh, in the presence of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Verma, faculty members and officials from both institutions. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Gurpreet Kour, NSS Programme Officer; Prof. Verinder Singh, Vice President, IIC; Prof. Kaku Ram, Convener, IIC and Meenakshi Sharma from JKEDI. The partnership aims to establish a comprehensive framework for entrepreneurial development and start-up-related services within the college. Under this collaboration, JKEDI will utilize its expertise to organize entrepreneurship awareness programmes, skill development workshops, hands-on training sessions, mentoring initiatives and incubation support. The alliance will also enable students to gain valuable insights into government schemes, the start-up ecosystem and best practices in enterprise creation and management. The MoU shall remain operational for a defined period and would be implemented through joint initiatives, continuous engagement and coordinated efforts between the two institutions.

ADDC reviews progress of SBM-G works in Udhampur UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 04: Additional District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Jugal Kishore today chaired a meeting of officers and field functionaries of the Rural Development Department to review the progress of work on assets sanctioned under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin(SBM-G) in the district. The meeting was attended by ACP Dr Ashwani Hansa, Executive Engineer REW, Sanjay Kumar and BDOs. The meeting reviewed implementation status, physical and financial progress and the on-ground impact of works executed under SBM-G in the district. The ADDC inquired about progress of tendering, allotment and status of work on the assets sanctioned under Annual Plan 2025-26. The BDOs were directed to expedite execution by mobilizing men and machinery and ensure completion of works within the stipulated timelines. The ADDC appreciated the BDOs who have identified sites for DEWATS and FSTPs and exhorted others to follow suit. Further, BDO Chenani, Kulwanta, Chanunta, Parlidhar, Udhampur and Ramnagar were directed to complete land identification of 1 FSTP in coordination with the concerned Tehsildars within one week time.

*DLAC meeting on safe food & healthy diets held in Udhampur* _DC stresses on intensifying checking, awareness_ UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 02: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on safe food and healthy diets in the Mini Conference Hall, DC Office Complex. While chairing the meeting, the DC emphasized the need to generate maximum public awareness regarding food safety, hygiene and adulteration through sustained and district-wide outreach activities. She directed the concerned departments to intensify market inspections across the district and enhance the collection of food samples by adopting scientific procedures.”Organize awareness programmes involving all stakeholders to educate people about the importance of safe food practices and maintaining a healthy diet’ the DC instructed officers. She further stressed strict enforcement of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and directed the Food Safety Department to intensify inspection of food establishments and initiate compounding proceedings against defaulters.

अवैध खनन पर अंकुश लगाने हेतु उपायों की डीसी ने की समीक्षा उधमपुर, 28 जनवरी: उपायुक्त उधमपुर सलोनी राय ने आज जिले में अवैध खनन पर प्रभावी नियंत्रण हेतु गठित बहु-विभागीय जिला स्तरीय टास्क फोर्स सेल की बैठक की अध्यक्षता की और अब तक अपनाए गए प्रवर्तन उपायों की समीक्षा की। बैठक के दौरान उपायुक्त ने अवैध खनन से जुड़ी प्रवर्तन चुनौतियों की समीक्षा की तथा प्रभावी निगरानी एवं नियंत्रण के लिए रणनीतियों पर चर्चा की। उन्होंने खनन कानूनों एवं पर्यावरणीय मानदंडों के सख्त अनुपालन को सुनिश्चित करने हेतु नियामक तंत्र को और मजबूत करने पर बल दिया। उपायुक्त ने अधिकारियों को अवैध खनिज उत्खनन की पहचान और उसे रोकने के लिए सतर्क एवं सक्रिय दृष्टिकोण अपनाने के निर्देश दिए। शून्य सहनशीलता की नीति पर जोर देते हुए उन्होंने उल्लंघनकर्ताओं के खिलाफ सख्त कानूनी एवं दंडात्मक कार्रवाई करने के निर्देश दिए, ताकि भविष्य में ऐसे कृत्यों पर प्रभावी रोक लगाई जा सके। निगरानी व्यवस्था को और सुदृढ़ करने के लिए उपायुक्त ने निर्देश दिए कि खनिज परिवहन में लगे सभी वाहनों में जीपीएस उपकरण लगाए जाएं, जिससे वास्तविक समय में ट्रैकिंग सुनिश्चित हो सके और अनधिकृत परिवहन को रोका जा सके।

उधमपुर पुलिस ने ड्रग तस्कर अरुण चौधरी की ₹35 लाख की संपत्ति कुर्क की; इस वर्ष दूसरी आवासीय संपत्ति की कुर्की उधमपुर पुलिस ने मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी में संलिप्त अरुण चौधरी पुत्र स्व. सुल्तान परवेज, निवासी क्रोवा, उधमपुर की लगभग ₹35 लाख मूल्य की संपत्ति को एनडीपीएस एक्ट की धारा 68(F) के तहत कुर्क किया है। यह कार्रवाई एफआईआर संख्या 245/2025, धारा 8/21/22 एनडीपीएस एक्ट, थाना उधमपुर में दर्ज मामले के संबंध में की गई है। कुर्क की गई संपत्ति में गांव क्रोवा स्थित एक आवासीय मकान तथा एक वाहन (मारुति सुज़ुकी वैगन-आर) शामिल है। यह कार्रवाई वर्तमान वर्ष के दौरान एनडीपीएस मामलों में उधमपुर पुलिस द्वारा किसी ड्रग तस्कर की दूसरी आवासीय संपत्ति की कुर्की है। जांच के दौरान विस्तृत वित्तीय जांच एवं बैकवर्ड लिंक विश्लेषण से यह सामने आया कि आरोपी ने उक्त संपत्ति नशीले पदार्थों के अवैध कारोबार से अर्जित धन से प्राप्त की थी। इन तथ्यों के आधार पर, आज जांच अधिकारी द्वारा आगे की कानूनी कार्रवाई हेतु कुर्की आदेश जारी किया गया। इस कार्रवाई के साथ ही, वर्ष 2025 में उधमपुर पुलिस द्वारा एनडीपीएस मामलों में कुर्क की गई कुल संपत्तियों का मूल्य लगभग ₹1.10 करोड़ हो गया है, जो नशा तस्करों के खिलाफ पुलिस की निरंतर और सख्त कार्रवाई को दर्शाता है।

On noticing the police party, the said person tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended. During checking, the gallon was found to contain 05 litres of illicit desi liquor. The accused has been identified as *Parveen Singh S/o Kedarnath R/o Marothi, Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur.* Accordingly, FIR No. 05/2026 under Section 48(a) has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation in the case has been taken up.

House Committee conducts on-the-spot inspection of JJM schemes in Udhampur UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 07: The House Committee constituted to probe into the alleged irregularities in implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission today conducted an extensive on-the-spot inspection of various JJM schemes in Udhampur district. The inspection was carried out under the chairmanship of Chairman Justice Hasnain Masoodi along with other members of the Committee. The House Committee was accompanied by the local MLAs Additional Chief Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Shaleen Kabra, Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai and other concerned officers. During the visit, the Chairman and members inspected the water supply schemes at Tikri Dhanu and Seen Brahmana. The Committee interacted with the former PRI members and local residents to ascertain the ground-level status of JJM implementation besides gathering firsthand feedback regarding functioning of the schemes. During the inspection, the House Committee members enquired in detail about various aspects of the scheme, including the laying of pipelines, installation and functionality of filtration plants, provision of household tap connections, quality of trenching and pipe network execution, infrastructure status, water quality, supply timelines, maintenance mechanisms and pending works under JJM. The Committee also held an interaction at Dak Bungalow, Udhampur, where the former PRI members and local residents raised several issues related to JJM implementation in their respective areas. These included non-functional reservoirs, households left out of JJM coverage, leakage in pipelines, improper laying of pipes on the surface, incomplete works and delays in installation of infrastructure. While briefing the media, the Chairman stated that the Committee, constituted in the backdrop of the alleged irregularities in implementation of JJM in J&K, conducted on-spot-inspection of JJM schemes in Udhampur district. He said the Committee carried out on-the-spot verification to ascertain the factual position, identify bottlenecks and fix responsibility for lapses, wherever found. The officers of the Jal Shakti Department briefed the Committee about the progress of works and highlighted technical challenges, land-related issues and funding constraints. They also informed the Committee about the steps being taken to expedite the pending works and improve service delivery. As part of the tour, the House Committee members also visited Bedian and Johnu, where they reviewed the status of ongoing and incomplete JJM works aimed at providing potable drinking water to rural households. The Committee also interacted with the local residents and the officials to assess the ground situation.

DC listens to public issues at far flung Block Parlidhar UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 06: To strengthen grassroots governance and ensure an effective grievance redressal mechanism, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, today conducted a public outreach-cum-grievance redressal programme at remote Block Parlidhar. During the camp, former PRI members and local people of adjoining panchayats raised several important issues and demands, including the construction of a Patwar Khana building, upgradation of the tractor road from Kawa to Dhanwalt, construction of a forest hut at Parlidhar, footbridge at Malti, upgradation of the High School to Higher Secondary level, Road connectivity and water supply at Dhanwalt, construction of a pucca path to Chanotra Mandir and development of a playground at Parlidhar. The public also highlighted the shortage of staff in various educational and health institutions. While Interacting with PRIs and the general public, the DC said that the main objective of the outreach programme is to obtain a firsthand appraisal of issues at the grassroots level. She added that such camps help deliver governance at people’s doorsteps and strengthen the public service delivery mechanism. She further assured that their genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner. Officers from the Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry Departments briefed the participants about various government schemes. Later, the Deputy Commissioner distributed plants among local farmers, an initiative organized by the Horticulture Department to promote sustainable and income-generating farming practices.
