DC reviews progress of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Udhampur UDHAMPUR, MAY 05: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district. During the meeting, attended by officers, vendors and representatives for the agencies associated with the scheme, the Executive Engineer JPDCL presented a detailed overview of the scheme’s implementation. He apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the total number of applications received- the cases having allotted vendors, the number of pending applications and the installations completed so far. While reviewing the progress, the DC sought comprehensive feedback on the challenges being faced in the execution of the scheme. He emphasized the need to launch an extensive door-to-door awareness campaign to sensitize the public about the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Stressing effective coordination, the Deputy Commissioner directed JPDCL and empanelled vendors to work in close collaboration to bridge the gap between applications received and pending installations. He further instructed all concerned officers and vendors to intensify awareness activities to encourage maximum public participation in this flagship scheme.

Arrangements for 3- Day Moungri mela discussed at Udhampur UDHAMPUR, MAY 05: The 3-Day historic Annual Shiv- Parvati Shrine mela at Moungri is commencing from May 15, 2026, In this regard, a meeting of District Officers of the line departments, besides representatives of the management committee of Lord Shiv Parvati cave shrine Moungri was held today. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa chaired the meeting which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr Umesh Shan; Additional SP Sandeep Bhat and other officers. Threadbare discussions were held on the arrangements related to smooth conduct of the mela, like maintenance of road, deployment of security personnel, besides provisions for sanitation, Health care, Transport, drinking water and power supply. The meeting decided to constitute teams to keep a check on overpricing and quality of edibles, oversee ration supply and prepare a calendar of Cultural activities and sports etc. The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure all arrangements pertaining to their respective departments are made well in advance, leaving no scope of any complaint from any quarter. Xen PDD was directed to provide uninterrupted power supply till the culmination of the mela. Executive Engineers PMGSY and PWD were directed to ensure timely filing of the potholes and completion of repair work on the road leading to the Mela Site. It was decided that District Police would deploy adequate security personnel during mela days while ARTO would deploy a sufficient number of buses from different locations. For first aid facilities, the DC directed the Chief Medical Officer to deploy a team of doctors and an ambulance to meet any emergency. The Youth Services & Sports department was asked to organize cultural programmes and sports events at the venue in coordination with the Education department. The government departments were directed to put up their departmental stalls to sensitize the public regarding flagship government schemes.

DC Udhampur convenes public outreach camp at Chenani Assures time-bound redressal of public grievances UDHAMPUR, MAY 06: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa, today presided over a public outreach-cum-grievance redressal camp at Community Facilitation Centre Chenani. The programme witnessed the presence of IAS Probationer Shagun Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, district and sectoral officers, former PRI members and a large number of people from adjoining panchayats. During the interaction, former PRI members including locals highlighted several demands, seeking renovation of the PMGSY road from Nagulta to Razar and other link roads, development of parking facilities, maintenance of Mall road Kud, issuance of separate ration cards, addressing the problem of drinking water shortage and speedy completion of JJM schemes. Other concerns raised included shortage of staff in government schools and health institutions, requirement of an ambulance at Sarar, construction of a flyover, spreading awareness about commercial floriculture, operationalization of the International Yoga Centre at Mantalai, installation of a mobile tower in Bupp area, land compensation under PMGSY and skill development opportunities for youth under Mission YUVA. Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned departments to initiate measures to address the problems projected by the people. He assured that all genuine demands would be addressed on priority. Highlighting the importance of public awareness, he sensitized the public to the upcoming Census 2027 and urged their active participation in the enumeration process. He also highlighted flagship schemes, including Mission YUVA, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, HADP and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, emphasizing their role in boosting livelihoods and socio-economic development. Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the progress of work on the local Government Degree College building.

DC Udhampur reviews Action plan for 100 day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan UDHAMPUR, APRIL 10: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting with officers of the line departments to review the action plan for the 100 day campaign under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh and other senior district officers from the concerned departments. Reviewing the preparations of stakeholder departments, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to maintain close coordination for successful implementation of activities during the campaign. “Inter-departmental coordination and effective execution of activities are vital for achieving the objectives,” he noted and added “The awareness activities and programmes planned for the campaign aim at sensitizing the public and reinforcing collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.” Stressing the need for extensive grassroots-level outreach, the DC instructed stakeholder departments to activate field staff to mobilise community participation, which is crucial for eradication of the growing menace. District road safety committee meeting held at Udhampur DC calls for strict enforcement of rules, corrective measures UDHAMPUR, APRIL 07: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review and strengthen road safety measures across the district. The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, PWD, along with other district officers of the stakeholder departments. A detailed discussion was held on several critical aspects, including removal of dumped material from city areas, effective implementation of Motor Vehicles Act, identification of accident-prone black spots etc. The meeting also deliberated on equipping ambulances with trauma kits, ensuring strict enforcement of traffic rules and taking measures to minimize road accidents. Focus was laid on regular road maintenance, close check on overloading and over-speeding, curbing rash driving and conducting sustained awareness programmes. Other key issues discussed included improving traffic management systems, decongesting busy routes, checking school buses, installing proper signage and carrying out safety audits of all major roads. The DC exhorted all concerned departments to work in close coordination, expedite execution of safety-related works and regularly monitor vulnerable stretches. Emphasis was also laid on organizing road safety awareness programmes in colleges and other educational institutions. The Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure proper maintenance of roads to prevent mishaps. They were further instructed to identify black spots and undertake corrective measures such as installation of signboards, road markings and crash barriers at vulnerable locations.

DC Udhampur reviews formulation of District capex budget 2026–27 Assesses progress of key developmental schemes UDHAMPUR, APRIL 7: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today convened a meeting of officers from the line departments to review formulation of the District Capex Budget 2026–27 and assess progress of ongoing developmental works being executed under SASCI, Tribal Welfare, DA-JGUA, UT Capex and other schemes. The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development, Om Parkash and other district officers. The Deputy Commissioner took a detailed block-wise review of the physical and financial status of works under the Annual Development Plan ADP, covering ongoing projects and the status of plan submissions. The DC directed the departments to finalize plans after due consultation with elected representatives. He further instructed to include need based and feasible works. Emphasizing accountability and quality in developmental works, the DC called for strict adherence to timelines and quality standards.

चोरी का मामला सुलझा: 03 आरोपी गिरफ्तार, चोरी की संपत्ति (एल्यूमिनियम कंडक्टर) बरामद — उधमपुर पुलिस एफआईआर नंबर 10/2026 धारा 331(4)/305(a) बीएनएस के तहत 18.03.2026 को पुलिस स्टेशन कुद में दर्ज किया गया। यह मामला पीडीडी विभाग के सरकारी ठेकेदार सुखदेव शर्मा की लिखित शिकायत पर दर्ज हुआ, जिसमें उन्होंने बताया कि 17–18.03.2026 की रात के दौरान पनामा चौक, कुद के पास स्थित रिसीविंग स्टेशन से एल्यूमिनियम बिजली तार (कंडक्टर) चोरी हो गया। जांच के दौरान, पुलिस स्टेशन कुद की टीम ने कई संदिग्धों को पूछताछ के लिए हिरासत में लिया। तकनीकी और मानव खुफिया जानकारी के आधार पर तीन आरोपियों — सौरभ शर्मा पुत्र संजय कुमार निवासी धर्मथल नरसू तहसील एवं जिला उधमपुर, संजय कुमार पुत्र सुरम चंद निवासी सुकाटर कुद तहसील चेनानी जिला उधमपुर, तथा विजय कुमार पुत्र हेम राज निवासी बर्मीण तहसील रामनगर वर्तमान पता हाउसिंग कॉलोनी उधमपुर — को गिरफ्तार किया गया। लगातार पूछताछ के दौरान सभी आरोपियों ने अपराध में अपनी संलिप्तता स्वीकार की। उनकी निशानदेही पर लगभग 400 किलोग्राम चोरी किया गया एल्यूमिनियम बिजली तार (कंडक्टर), जिसकी कीमत लगभग ₹1,20,000 है, सुकाटर कुद से बरामद किया गया। मामले में आगे की जांच जारी है।

*Long-Absconding NDPS Accused Arrested by Udhampur Police After 11 Years* Udhampur Police, in a significant operation, has apprehended an accused who had been absconding for a long time. The arrested individual has been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Pritam Kumar, a resident of Salwara, District Hoshiarpur (Punjab). The accused was wanted in connection with FIR No. 17/2008 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Kud. A warrant under Section 512 CrPC had been issued against him by the Hon’ble Principal District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur on 14/08/2015. The accused had been evading arrest for nearly 11 years. After sustained efforts, Udhampur Police successfully arrested him from Hoshiarpur (Punjab). Following his arrest, the warrant was executed, and as per the orders of the Hon’ble Court, the accused has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur. This action is part of Udhampur Police’s strict and continuous अभियान against criminals.
