The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh and other senior district officers from the concerned departments. The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, PWD, along with other district officers of the stakeholder departments. A detailed discussion was held on several critical aspects, including removal of dumped material from city areas, effective implementation of Motor Vehicles Act, identification of accident-prone black spots etc. The meeting also deliberated on equipping ambulances with trauma kits, ensuring strict enforcement of traffic rules and taking measures to minimize road accidents. Focus was laid on regular road maintenance, close check on overloading and over-speeding, curbing rash driving and conducting sustained awareness programmes. Other key issues discussed included improving traffic management systems, decongesting busy routes, checking school buses, installing proper signage and carrying out safety audits of all major roads. The DC exhorted all concerned departments to work in close coordination, expedite execution of safety-related works and regularly monitor vulnerable stretches. The attached properties include 11 vehicles (Tata pick-ups and trucks) all used in repeated bovine smuggling. Investigations revealed these assets were acquired from proceeds of crime and after court orders, they were formally attached, striking a strong blow at the financial network of the smuggling nexus. Notably, the highest-value single property attached in 2025 was a truck worth ₹40 lakh, belonging to *Rafqat Ali S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Dabriah, Tehsil & District Udhampur* seized under Section 107(5) BNSS by Police Station Majalta. This vehicle alone represents a significant milestone in dismantling the smuggling network. Udhampur Police reiterates its commitment to zero tolerance against bovine smuggling and warns that offenders will face strict legal action and seizure of assets.

Police team of PS Rehanbal during traffic checking at Phalata Naka, a Swift car bearing registration No. JK01AW-2817 coming from Jammu towards Udhampur was stopped for checking. During questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as *Abrar Javid S/o Javid Hamed Sheikh R/o Lasjan Gundbal, Saloiteng, Srinagar*. During his personal search, 6.10 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 210/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehanbal.

District road safety committee meeting held at Udhampur DC calls for strict enforcement of rules, corrective measures UDHAMPUR, APRIL 07: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review and strengthen road safety measures across the district. The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, PWD, along with other district officers of the stakeholder departments. A detailed discussion was held on several critical aspects, including removal of dumped material from city areas, effective implementation of Motor Vehicles Act, identification of accident-prone black spots etc. The meeting also deliberated on equipping ambulances with trauma kits, ensuring strict enforcement of traffic rules and taking measures to minimize road accidents. Focus was laid on regular road maintenance, close check on overloading and over-speeding, curbing rash driving and conducting sustained awareness programmes. Other key issues discussed included improving traffic management systems, decongesting busy routes, checking school buses, installing proper signage and carrying out safety audits of all major roads. The DC exhorted all concerned departments to work in close coordination, expedite execution of safety-related works and regularly monitor vulnerable stretches. Emphasis was also laid on organizing road safety awareness programmes in colleges and other educational institutions. The Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure proper maintenance of roads to prevent mishaps. They were further instructed to identify black spots and undertake corrective measures such as installation of signboards, road markings and crash barriers at vulnerable locations.

DC Udhampur reviews formulation of District capex budget 2026–27 Assesses progress of key developmental schemes UDHAMPUR, APRIL 7: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today convened a meeting of officers from the line departments to review formulation of the District Capex Budget 2026–27 and assess progress of ongoing developmental works being executed under SASCI, Tribal Welfare, DA-JGUA, UT Capex and other schemes. The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development, Om Parkash and other district officers. The Deputy Commissioner took a detailed block-wise review of the physical and financial status of works under the Annual Development Plan ADP, covering ongoing projects and the status of plan submissions.
