Inter-District Drug Peddler Arrested with Heroin at Mand , Rehambal Under the supervision of SHO Rehambal, a police patrolling team of PP Tikri, Police Station Rehambal, while conducting routine patrolling at Mand apprehended one person identified as Varun Panday S/O Rajinder Kumar, resident of New Plot, Janipur, Jammu. During his personal search, approximately 15.60 grams of heroin, concealed in a polypouch, was recovered from the right pocket of his trousers. The accused was arrested on the spot, and FIR No. 56/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal. Further investigation is underway.

उधमपुर में 16 गोवंश से भरा ट्रक जब्त, चालक फरार उधमपुर, 18 मार्च: बुधवार सुबह रौन डोमैल में नाका चेकिंग के दौरान पुलिस ने 16 गोवंशीय पशुओं से भरा एक ट्रक जब्त किया। अधिकारियों के अनुसार, वाहन संख्या JK08E-4932 को सुबह लगभग 6:15 बजे जांच के लिए रुकने का संकेत दिया गया। हालांकि, पुलिस टीम को देखते ही चालक वाहन को मौके पर छोड़कर फरार हो गया। जांच के दौरान पाया गया कि ट्रक में 16 गोवंश बिना किसी वैध अनुमति के ले जाए जा रहे थे। पशुओं को रस्सियों से बेरहमी से बांधा गया था। इस संबंध में पुलिस थाना उधमपुर में धारा 223 भारतीय न्याय संहिता (BNS) तथा धारा 11 पशु क्रूरता निवारण अधिनियम के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया है। फरार चालक की तलाश जारी है और मामले की आगे जांच की जा रही है, अधिकारियों ने बताया।

प्याज की बोरियों के नीचे छिपाए गए गोवंश, टिकरी नाका पर एक गिरफ्तार उधमपुर, 18 मार्च: टिकरी नाका पर नियमित जांच के दौरान पुलिस ने एक वाहन (JK02B-2758) को रोका और अवैध रूप से गोवंश की तस्करी के मामले का खुलासा किया। अधिकारियों के अनुसार, जांच के दौरान वाहन में 35 बोरी प्याज लदी हुई पाई गईं। हालांकि, गहन तलाशी लेने पर प्याज की बोरियों के नीचे 9 गोवंशीय पशु पाए गए, जिन्हें बेरहमी से रस्सियों से बांधा गया था। वाहन चालक की पहचान हसन दीन पुत्र मोहम्मद शरीफ निवासी काना चक के रूप में हुई है। पुलिस ने चालक को मौके पर ही गिरफ्तार कर लिया, जबकि एक अज्ञात सहयात्री मौके से फरार हो गया। इस संबंध में पुलिस थाना रिहंबल में FIR नंबर 54/2026 के तहत धारा 223 भारतीय न्याय संहिता (BNS) एवं धारा 11 पशु क्रूरता निवारण अधिनियम के अंतर्गत मामला दर्ज किया गया है। फरार सहयात्री की तलाश जारी है तथा मामले की आगे जांच की जा रही है।

Udhampur gears up for 3-day historic Devika Baisakhi mela DC reviews arrangements UDHAMPUR, MARCH 16: The District Administration Udhampur has started preparations for the for three-day historic Devika Baisakhi Mela, commencing from April 14, 2026. To ensure smooth and successful conduct of the event a meeting of district officers and prominent citizens was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Minga Sherpa here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan; Additional SP Sandeep Bhat; GM DIC Kishore Singh Katoch; officers from line departments, besides representatives from Beopar Mandal and civil society. The meeting held detailed deliberations on arrangements related to security, safe drinking water, power supply, sanitation, traffic management and first-aid services to facilitate the devotees and visitors expected to turn up in large numbers at the mela. The PHE and Civic authorities were asked to make adequate arrangements for drinking water and oversee sanitation and cleanliness. Chief Medical Officer was directed to deploy a team of doctors along with an ambulance to provide prompt healthcare services to visitors. Similarly, the Executive Engineer PDD was instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply, while the Police Department would make necessary security and traffic arrangements at the mela venue. Other matters, including the finalization of cultural programmes, establishment of a control room, deployment of magistrates and medical teams and availability of fire tenders were also discussed at the meeting.

District-level floriculture event held at Udhampur under CSS–MIDH UDHAMPUR, MARCH 16: Department of Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, Udhampur today organized a District-Level event under CSS-MIDH at Udhampur. Deputy Commissioner, Minga Sherpa graced the occasion as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the programme. The event was organized under the guidance of Director Floriculture Vivek Modi, with the objective of promoting commercial floriculture, enhancing environmental beautification and empowering farmers through sustainable livelihood opportunities. Mediation For The Nation 2.0 DLSA Udhampur intensifies awareness activities UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 07: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Udhampur has initiated a publicity drive to spread awareness about the nationwide initiative “Mediation For The Nation 2.0” pursuant to the directions from the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority. The campaign undertaken under the Chairmanship of Kalpana Revo, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairperson DLSA Udhampur) and supervision of Secretary, DLSA Sumati Sharma, to sensitize the public, particularly litigants, to the benefits and advantages of mediation as an effective Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism. In this regard, DLSA Udhampur organized a series of campaigns and programs to promote Mediation 2.0. Posters were put up at prominent locations, including DC Office, District Court Complex, prominent chowks and in other parts of the Township, as well as Tehsils Ramnagar, Majalta and Chenani. The PLVs engaged with the public, explaining mediation benefits and processes. An awareness camp was held by Panel Lawyers of Tehsil Legal Services Committee Chenani, focusing on free legal aid services and Mediation 2.0. Campaigns were conducted at Slathia Chowk, Dhar Road and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, Gole Market, highlighting mediation’s role in peaceful dispute resolution, reducing litigation and promoting social harmony. Additionally, a legal awareness programme was conducted by TLSC Majalta, focusing on Mediation 2.0 and social welfare schemes, empowering students with knowledge on dispute resolution and entitlements. These initiatives aimed to educate the community about resolving disputes amicably through Mediation 2.0.

GDC Udhampur enters strategic partnership with JKEDI to strengthen entrepreneurial and start-up ecosystem UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 07: Government Degree College Udhampur has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute- the District start-up cell, marking a significant step towards fostering entrepreneurship, innovation and skill-based learning among students. The MoU was formally signed by District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Udhampur Yash Paul and President, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Prof. Rakesh Singh, in the presence of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Verma, faculty members and officials from both institutions. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Gurpreet Kour, NSS Programme Officer; Prof. Verinder Singh, Vice President, IIC; Prof. Kaku Ram, Convener, IIC and Meenakshi Sharma from JKEDI. The partnership aims to establish a comprehensive framework for entrepreneurial development and start-up-related services within the college. Under this collaboration, JKEDI will utilize its expertise to organize entrepreneurship awareness programmes, skill development workshops, hands-on training sessions, mentoring initiatives and incubation support. The alliance will also enable students to gain valuable insights into government schemes, the start-up ecosystem and best practices in enterprise creation and management. ADDC reviews progress of SBM-G works in Udhampur UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 04: Additional District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Jugal Kishore today chaired a meeting of officers and field functionaries of the Rural Development Department to review the progress of work on assets sanctioned under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin(SBM-G) in the district. The meeting was attended by ACP Dr Ashwani Hansa, Executive Engineer REW, Sanjay Kumar and BDOs. The meeting reviewed implementation status, physical and financial progress and the on-ground impact of works executed under SBM-G in the district. The ADDC inquired about progress of tendering, allotment and status of work on the assets sanctioned under Annual Plan 2025-26. The BDOs were directed to expedite execution by mobilizing men and machinery and ensure completion of works within the stipulated timelines. The ADDC appreciated the BDOs who have identified sites for DEWATS and FSTPs and exhorted others to follow suit. Further, BDO Chenani, Kulwanta, Chanunta, Parlidhar, Udhampur and Ramnagar were directed to complete land identification of 1 FSTP in coordination with the concerned Tehsildars within one week time.

While chairing the meeting, the DC emphasized the need to generate maximum public awareness regarding food safety, hygiene and adulteration through sustained and district-wide outreach activities. She directed the concerned departments to intensify market inspections across the district and enhance the collection of food samples by adopting scientific procedures.”Organize awareness programmes involving all stakeholders to educate people about the importance of safe food practices and maintaining a healthy diet’ the DC instructed officers. She further stressed strict enforcement of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and directed the Food Safety Department to intensify inspection of food establishments and initiate compounding proceedings against defaulters.

*Long-Absconding NDPS Accused Arrested by Udhampur Police After 11 Years* Udhampur Police, in a significant operation, has apprehended an accused who had been absconding for a long time. The arrested individual has been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Pritam Kumar, a resident of Salwara, District Hoshiarpur (Punjab). The accused was wanted in connection with FIR No. 17/2008 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Kud. A warrant under Section 512 CrPC had been issued against him by the Hon’ble Principal District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur on 14/08/2015. The accused had been evading arrest for nearly 11 years. After sustained efforts, Udhampur Police successfully arrested him from Hoshiarpur (Punjab). Following his arrest, the warrant was executed, and as per the orders of the Hon’ble Court, the accused has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur. This action is part of Udhampur Police’s strict and continuous अभियान against criminals.

DC reviews progress of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Udhampur UDHAMPUR, MAY 05: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district. During the meeting, attended by officers, vendors and representatives for the agencies associated with the scheme, the Executive Engineer JPDCL presented a detailed overview of the scheme’s implementation. He apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the total number of applications received- the cases having allotted vendors, the number of pending applications and the installations completed so far. While reviewing the progress, the DC sought comprehensive feedback on the challenges being faced in the execution of the scheme. He emphasized the need to launch an extensive door-to-door awareness campaign to sensitize the public about the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Stressing effective coordination, the Deputy Commissioner directed JPDCL and empanelled vendors to work in close collaboration to bridge the gap between applications received and pending installations. He further instructed all concerned officers and vendors to intensify awareness activities to encourage maximum public participation in this flagship scheme.

Arrangements for 3- Day Moungri mela discussed at Udhampur UDHAMPUR, MAY 05: The 3-Day historic Annual Shiv- Parvati Shrine mela at Moungri is commencing from May 15, 2026, In this regard, a meeting of District Officers of the line departments, besides representatives of the management committee of Lord Shiv Parvati cave shrine Moungri was held today. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa chaired the meeting which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr Umesh Shan; Additional SP Sandeep Bhat and other officers. Threadbare discussions were held on the arrangements related to smooth conduct of the mela, like maintenance of road, deployment of security personnel, besides provisions for sanitation, Health care, Transport, drinking water and power supply. The meeting decided to constitute teams to keep a check on overpricing and quality of edibles, oversee ration supply and prepare a calendar of Cultural activities and sports etc. The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure all arrangements pertaining to their respective departments are made well in advance, leaving no scope of any complaint from any quarter. Xen PDD was directed to provide uninterrupted power supply till the culmination of the mela. Executive Engineers PMGSY and PWD were directed to ensure timely filing of the potholes and completion of repair work on the road leading to the Mela Site. It was decided that District Police would deploy adequate security personnel during mela days while ARTO would deploy a sufficient number of buses from different locations. For first aid facilities, the DC directed the Chief Medical Officer to deploy a team of doctors and an ambulance to meet any emergency. The Youth Services & Sports department was asked to organize cultural programmes and sports events at the venue in coordination with the Education department. The government departments were directed to put up their departmental stalls to sensitize the public regarding flagship government schemes.

DC Udhampur convenes public outreach camp at Chenani Assures time-bound redressal of public grievances UDHAMPUR, MAY 06: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa, today presided over a public outreach-cum-grievance redressal camp at Community Facilitation Centre Chenani. The programme witnessed the presence of IAS Probationer Shagun Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, district and sectoral officers, former PRI members and a large number of people from adjoining panchayats. During the interaction, former PRI members including locals highlighted several demands, seeking renovation of the PMGSY road from Nagulta to Razar and other link roads, development of parking facilities, maintenance of Mall road Kud, issuance of separate ration cards, addressing the problem of drinking water shortage and speedy completion of JJM schemes. Other concerns raised included shortage of staff in government schools and health institutions, requirement of an ambulance at Sarar, construction of a flyover, spreading awareness about commercial floriculture, operationalization of the International Yoga Centre at Mantalai, installation of a mobile tower in Bupp area, land compensation under PMGSY and skill development opportunities for youth under Mission YUVA. Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned departments to initiate measures to address the problems projected by the people. He assured that all genuine demands would be addressed on priority. Highlighting the importance of public awareness, he sensitized the public to the upcoming Census 2027 and urged their active participation in the enumeration process. He also highlighted flagship schemes, including Mission YUVA, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, HADP and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, emphasizing their role in boosting livelihoods and socio-economic development. Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the progress of work on the local Government Degree College building.
