DC listens to public issues at far flung Block Parlidhar UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 06: To strengthen grassroots governance and ensure an effective grievance redressal mechanism, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, today conducted a public outreach-cum-grievance redressal programme at remote Block Parlidhar. During the camp, former PRI members and local people of adjoining panchayats raised several important issues and demands, including the construction of a Patwar Khana building, upgradation of the tractor road from Kawa to Dhanwalt, construction of a forest hut at Parlidhar, footbridge at Malti, upgradation of the High School to Higher Secondary level, Road connectivity and water supply at Dhanwalt, construction of a pucca path to Chanotra Mandir and development of a playground at Parlidhar. The public also highlighted the shortage of staff in various educational and health institutions. While Interacting with PRIs and the general public, the DC said that the main objective of the outreach programme is to obtain a firsthand appraisal of issues at the grassroots level. She added that such camps help deliver governance at people’s doorsteps and strengthen the public service delivery mechanism. She further assured that their genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner. Officers from the Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry Departments briefed the participants about various government schemes. Later, the Deputy Commissioner distributed plants among local farmers, an initiative organized by the Horticulture Department to promote sustainable and income-generating farming practices.

लगभग 1850 बजे नियमित गश्त के दौरान, रौन डोमैल चौक के पास, उधमपुर पुलिस ने बट्टल बलियां की ओर से आ रहे दो संदिग्ध व्यक्तियों को रोका। पुलिस को देखकर दोनों वापस भागने का प्रयास करने लगे, लेकिन उन्हें तुरंत पकड़ लिया गया। उनकी पहचान इरफान और वसीम के रूप में हुई, जो जखानी के निवासी हैं। तलाशी लेने पर उनके कब्जे से 5.45 ग्राम और 5.54 ग्राम हेरोइन जैसी मादक पदार्थ बरामद हुई। इस संबंध में थाना उधमपुर में एनडीपीएस एक्ट की धारा 8/21/22 के तहत एफआईआर संख्या 143/2026 दर्ज की गई है।

DC Udhampur reviews Action plan for 100 day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan UDHAMPUR, APRIL 10: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting with officers of the line departments to review the action plan for the 100 day campaign under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh and other senior district officers from the concerned departments. Reviewing the preparations of stakeholder departments, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to maintain close coordination for successful implementation of activities during the campaign. “Inter-departmental coordination and effective execution of activities are vital for achieving the objectives,” he noted and added “The awareness activities and programmes planned for the campaign aim at sensitizing the public and reinforcing collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.” Stressing the need for extensive grassroots-level outreach, the DC instructed stakeholder departments to activate field staff to mobilise community participation, which is crucial for eradication of the growing menace. He also stressed on promoting awareness about the government welfare schemes.

District road safety committee meeting held at Udhampur DC calls for strict enforcement of rules, corrective measures UDHAMPUR, APRIL 07: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review and strengthen road safety measures across the district. The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, PWD, along with other district officers of the stakeholder departments. A detailed discussion was held on several critical aspects, including removal of dumped material from city areas, effective implementation of Motor Vehicles Act, identification of accident-prone black spots etc. The meeting also deliberated on equipping ambulances with trauma kits, ensuring strict enforcement of traffic rules and taking measures to minimize road accidents. Focus was laid on regular road maintenance, close check on overloading and over-speeding, curbing rash driving and conducting sustained awareness programmes. Other key issues discussed included improving traffic management systems, decongesting busy routes, checking school buses, installing proper signage and carrying out safety audits of all major roads. The DC exhorted all concerned departments to work in close coordination, expedite execution of safety-related works and regularly monitor vulnerable stretches. Emphasis was also laid on organizing road safety awareness programmes in colleges and other educational institutions. The Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure proper maintenance of roads to prevent mishaps. They were further instructed to identify black spots and undertake corrective measures such as installation of signboards, road markings and crash barriers at vulnerable locations.
