Good Governance Week: ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ campaign in full swing across Udhampur UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 20: As part of the ongoing “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” campaign, Municipal Committee Ramnagar successfully cleared two legacy waste sites, marking a significant step towards creating a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable urban environment. A series of activities were conducted at Block Chanunta under the campaign to promote good governance, enhance service delivery and ensure effective redressal of public grievances at the grassroots level through active people’s participation. Further, a Revenue Camp under the theme Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore was organised at Village Chapper, Sarota. The camp was attended by SDM Dudu, Dr. Manmeet Kumar, who listened to public grievances and ensured their prompt redressal. During the camp, various revenue-related certificates were issued to eligible residents, providing on-the-spot administrative relief.

उधमपुर (मजालता): आतंकी मुठभेड़ में शहीद हुए अमजद खान उधमपुर जिले के मजालता क्षेत्र में सुरक्षाबलों और आतंकियों के बीच हुई भीषण मुठभेड़ में अमजद खान शहीद हो गए। बताया जा रहा है कि तलाशी अभियान के दौरान आतंकियों ने सुरक्षाबलों पर अचानक फायरिंग शुरू कर दी, जिसके बाद दोनों ओर से गोलाबारी हुई। मुठभेड़ के दौरान अमजद खान ने साहस और बहादुरी का परिचय देते हुए आतंकियों का डटकर मुकाबला किया, लेकिन गोली लगने से वे वीरगति को प्राप्त हो गए। घटना के बाद पूरे इलाके को घेराबंदी कर लिया गया है और सर्च ऑपरेशन तेज कर दिया गया है। शहादत की खबर मिलते ही क्षेत्र में शोक की लहर दौड़ गई। स्थानीय लोगों, जनप्रतिनिधियों और प्रशासन ने शहीद अमजद खान को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की और उनके बलिदान को देश के लिए अमूल्य बताया। सुरक्षाबलों ने स्पष्ट किया है कि आतंकियों के खिलाफ अभियान जारी है और क्षेत्र में सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और कड़ी कर दी गई है।

Scooty RC Suspended After Viral Video in Udhampur Udhampur, December 15: The Registration Certificate (RC) of a scooty bearing Registration No. JK14K-3342 has been suspended for a period of three (03) months with immediate effect. The action was taken after a video went viral on social media showing a two-wheeler carrying six (06) students, an act amounting to gross violation of traffic rules and endangering public safety. The incident reportedly involved GDO Boys in the Udhampur area. Taking cognizance of the matter, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Udhampur, ordered the suspension of the vehicle’s RC under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The Transport Department has reiterated that such reckless and dangerous acts will be dealt with strictly, and parents, students, and vehicle owners are advised to ensure compliance with traffic laws to avoid legal action. During the course of investigation, detailed financial scrutiny and backward link analysis revealed that the accused had acquired the said immovable property through proceeds of narcotics. Police team of PS Rehanbal during traffic checking at Phalata Naka, a Swift car bearing registration No. JK01AW-2817 coming from Jammu towards Udhampur was stopped for checking. During questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as *Abrar Javid S/o Javid Hamed Sheikh R/o Lasjan Gundbal, Saloiteng, Srinagar*. During his personal search, 6.10 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 210/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehanbal.

It is pertinent to mention that earlier, on 07.11.2025, a police team of PS Udhampur arrested a drug peddler namely *Aditya Gupta S/o Navneet Gupta R/o Adarsh Colony, Udhampur* and recovered heroin from his possession near Subash Stadium, Udhampur. During the course of further investigation of the case, the involvement of another accused in the narcotics supply chain came to light. Acting promptly on the leads so developed, a police team of PS Udhampur led by DSP Prob Divya Kesar, arrested *Geeta Devi C/o Ram Aasre R/O Street No. 01, Bhagatpura, Phagwara, Punjab A/P Rajiv Nagar, Narwal, Jammu.* Further investigation is underway to identify additional forward and backward linkages in the drug network.

लगभग 1850 बजे नियमित गश्त के दौरान, रौन डोमैल चौक के पास, उधमपुर पुलिस ने बट्टल बलियां की ओर से आ रहे दो संदिग्ध व्यक्तियों को रोका। पुलिस को देखकर दोनों वापस भागने का प्रयास करने लगे, लेकिन उन्हें तुरंत पकड़ लिया गया। उनकी पहचान इरफान और वसीम के रूप में हुई, जो जखानी के निवासी हैं। तलाशी लेने पर उनके कब्जे से 5.45 ग्राम और 5.54 ग्राम हेरोइन जैसी मादक पदार्थ बरामद हुई। इस संबंध में थाना उधमपुर में एनडीपीएस एक्ट की धारा 8/21/22 के तहत एफआईआर संख्या 143/2026 दर्ज की गई है।

DC Udhampur reviews Action plan for 100 day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan UDHAMPUR, APRIL 10: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting with officers of the line departments to review the action plan for the 100 day campaign under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh and other senior district officers from the concerned departments. Reviewing the preparations of stakeholder departments, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to maintain close coordination for successful implementation of activities during the campaign. “Inter-departmental coordination and effective execution of activities are vital for achieving the objectives,” he noted and added “The awareness activities and programmes planned for the campaign aim at sensitizing the public and reinforcing collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.” Stressing the need for extensive grassroots-level outreach, the DC instructed stakeholder departments to activate field staff to mobilise community participation, which is crucial for eradication of the growing menace. He also stressed on promoting awareness about the government welfare schemes.

District road safety committee meeting held at Udhampur DC calls for strict enforcement of rules, corrective measures UDHAMPUR, APRIL 07: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review and strengthen road safety measures across the district. The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer, PWD, along with other district officers of the stakeholder departments. A detailed discussion was held on several critical aspects, including removal of dumped material from city areas, effective implementation of Motor Vehicles Act, identification of accident-prone black spots etc. The meeting also deliberated on equipping ambulances with trauma kits, ensuring strict enforcement of traffic rules and taking measures to minimize road accidents. Focus was laid on regular road maintenance, close check on overloading and over-speeding, curbing rash driving and conducting sustained awareness programmes. Other key issues discussed included improving traffic management systems, decongesting busy routes, checking school buses, installing proper signage and carrying out safety audits of all major roads. The DC exhorted all concerned departments to work in close coordination, expedite execution of safety-related works and regularly monitor vulnerable stretches. Emphasis was also laid on organizing road safety awareness programmes in colleges and other educational institutions. The Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure proper maintenance of roads to prevent mishaps. They were further instructed to identify black spots and undertake corrective measures such as installation of signboards, road markings and crash barriers at vulnerable locations.
